Lunch and dinner at Jack's Glen Lake Inn is not your run-of-the-mill dining out experience. Host and owner Jack Russell is a friendly guy who more than likely will sit down at your table for a chat. He knows his customers, and his customers know Jack's smiling face and his hospitable welcome.

While Jack tends the front of the house, Marianne is in the kitchen creating soups, salads, entrees and desserts in her own inimitable style. And many of those foods include cherries. "Fresh cherries sweeten the palate without adding the heaviness of a full dessert," she says. "And they go especially well with high fat meats such as duck. Cherries move easily from breakfast to dinner desserts." Her Cherry Plum Sauce is perfect with a multitude of foods including roast duckling, as a filling in a thin dessert pancake, or as a topping for ice cream. And for a perfect sandwich, try her Traverse City Cherry Ham Salad.
