1 cup  flour
1 dash  salt
1/4 cup  shortening
1   egg
   Milk, as needed
2   potatoes, sliced
2   onions, sliced
1   red or green pepper, sliced
1/2 lb  bacon or ham, sliced
   Salt, to taste
   Freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
1/4 cup  dried parsley
1/2 cup  butter
   Dough strips
1/2 cup  grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tbs  paprika
 

To make the dough strips: Mix together flour, salt , shortening, egg and enough milk to make ingredients stick together. Roll thin and cut into 1/2-inch strips.

In a greased 9- by 13-inch casserole dish add ingredients. Divide into 2 equal layers the potato, onion, pepper, bacon or ham. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parsley. Add butter. Then top with dough strips. Cover with parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with paprika.

Bake covered in an oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake additional 15 minutes or until top is browned.
